Bible Cover to Cover
It took close to 15 months to read the Bible cover to cover. We started the program on May 05, 2004. We met every Wednesday at church to "speed" read through the Bible. The program started as a sort of book club where we met after work, shared tea, talked about this and that. Speed readers took turns reading the Bible for 1.5 to 2 hours. It was very difficult at first because I would read ahead in English and then go back to follow along in Korean that was being read out loud. I did it two pages at a time. By the time I read two pages, there was 1 or 1/2 of a page I could follow along in Korean. One of the benefits of this program is my ability to read Korean has improved quite a bit.
We initally started with 10 people and in some instances we had close to 14 people. People came for tea, to socialize and to just check out what was happening. But over the months, people either lacked motivation or let their personal lives get in the way and they didn't come any more. I myself missed a couple Wednesdays and remember it was really hard to go the following week. It was especially hard when Alias moved their regular Sunday slot to Wednesday. By the time we officially finished on July 27, 2005, there was only three left; Pastor Kim, YoungAe, and myself. The tea had long been forgotten and there was hardly any casual talking. For the final months, our sole purpose was to finish the Bible. As of today, I finally filled in the remaining "gaps" that I missed.
