Use Water Wisely

This is another shot form my office. I guess they hit a water line while digging the pit. It took a long time to pump the water out and get it under control. I thought it was funny because there's a sign on the truck that reads, "Use Water Wisely".

Bible Cover to Cover

Bible Journal (inside)

It took close to 15 months to read the Bible cover to cover. We started the program on May 05, 2004. We met every Wednesday at church to "speed" read through the Bible. The program started as a sort of book club where we met after work, shared tea, talked about this and that. Speed readers took turns reading the Bible for 1.5 to 2 hours. It was very difficult at first because I would read ahead in English and then go back to follow along in Korean that was being read out loud. I did it two pages at a time. By the time I read two pages, there was 1 or 1/2 of a page I could follow along in Korean. One of the benefits of this program is my ability to read Korean has improved quite a bit.
We initally started with 10 people and in some instances we had close to 14 people. People came for tea, to socialize and to just check out what was happening. But over the months, people either lacked motivation or let their personal lives get in the way and they didn't come any more. I myself missed a couple Wednesdays and remember it was really hard to go the following week. It was especially hard when Alias moved their regular Sunday slot to Wednesday. By the time we officially finished on July 27, 2005, there was only three left; Pastor Kim, YoungAe, and myself. The tea had long been forgotten and there was hardly any casual talking. For the final months, our sole purpose was to finish the Bible. As of today, I finally filled in the remaining "gaps" that I missed.

Flat Tire

I got back from my lunch and saw this truck sitting there at the front of the office. Apparently it got a flat when it was trying to turn the tight corner. The barrel was turning which meant there was concrete in it. Which also meant there was construction people some where waiting for the concrete. I guess this kind of thinking comes from working at a construction office for over a year. But what impressed me the most was the driver of the truck laid across the street on the lawn, taking a break in the shade. I guess he called it in and was waiting for assistance. Since my office window is on the second floor and faces this street, I kept track and it took more than 2 hours to get the truck moving again.

Big Job That Pay Poorly (are you a loser?)

CNN Money just issued an article of the high profile jobs that pay dirt compared to other entry jobs. Obviously money wasn't an issue for me when I was selecting my major. If it was I guess I should have studied engineering because the demand for people in that field has grown in the past year. Every high school kid should give this article a read.

Addictions

To celebrate the completion of the wedding invites, I opened up the PS2 (the one from x-mas 2004). I was shocked to see how small it was (PS2 slim version). Check out the photo. It's only a bit bigger than a DVD case. Also shows my game of choice right now. I got super addicted and played non-stop for a week. I even played til like 4:30 AM, got about 3 hours of sleep and amazingly went to work (AND FUNCTIONED). Thank God I disconnected my cable otherwise I'd be in hella trouble right now. I just spent the past few hours going throught various albums on flickr. I need to start getting out more...

Wedding Invitations Complete

I finally finished Quyen's wedding invitations. This is actually a photo of the invite she sent me (the completed package). I asked for one because I gave her EVERYTHING I had when I was done. Everyone seems to like it. They wanted it very clean and simple, yet unique. Do you see the heart-shaped invitation? Yeah, I cut them out using an x-acto knife. More than 150 hearts - cardstock. My right index finger is still sore (and it's been weeks since the completion). Needless to say, the invitations took up all of my free time for the past few weeks so I haven't exercised and feeling really not motivated. The good news however, is I no longer have the double eyelid. I'm back to my Korean "non-double eyelid" self.
